Naoko is a font family of 7 weights and their 7 italics, designed by Émilie Rigaud (A is for fonts). Naoko’s design relies on wide proportions, very short ascenders and light diacritics on all weights. It is named after Naoko Yamazaki, who is a former astronaut, spent fifteen days in space and is now back on Earth to develop interest for space.
Naoko includes two stylistic sets for alternate lettershapes: a of italic structure and g with a larger counter and a shorter ascender. The third stylistic set is replacing all punctuation with a light punctuation. The diacritics remain the same weight across all weights.
